«I think the music in this, really captures a creepy atmosphere. Story was simple but was executed fairly well. I had mixed feelings on he abrupt ending, I was hoping there would be some wrap-up. Still though, a good effort.»
The House Next Door
«Nice job! I really enjoyed this film. I thought it was cool that you went down a different route from most horror films and kept it interesting throughout. The visuals were nice and sharp and your camerawork was excellent. I also really liked the hell set at the end. However what I liked the most was the dialogue - it was sharp and realistic and didn't drag, which is a trap that's easy to fall into subtitles so well done.
As a minor negative I found the subtitles confusing at times because you didn't specify who was talking when... so maybe next time either use names/initials or colour code it so the viewer knows who's talking.
Otherwise this was a good film with plenty of positives. Looking forward to seeing more from you in the future!
«I gotta say, that was a very nice spin on a classic horror premise. I would love to see more from you (whether it be a sequel, or something from a completely different topic or genre). Nice use of editing (both visually and aurally) to get around some of the transitions that can't be filmed with the software (*spoilers* like the sound of the stake dropping, then cutting to a stake on the floor). I think the best next step for you to do is to get some voices into your films. There are many here in this community who do voicework, so just ask. »
«Well done! The filmmaker here has achieved a true sense of horror using some very simple tools. Each shot building for a surprise ending.
Don't be afraid of the Silent Movie, oh viewer. Sometimes just the images and music are all that's needed to set a chill in the bones.
«The constant use of fades is distracting. Generally fades are good for breaking up in-congruent shots, time changes or for a particular effect. However, there's not a lot of visible rhyme or reason to their use here. There's also a couple of silent subtitle exchanges which are awkward. The use of music or some kind of audio effect can help smooth those moments out. Overall I thought you established a pretty solid horror atmosphere and it kept me watching for the entirety.»
