Secret Agent Woman
«What a great start to a spoofy homage to the TV shows I grew up with... That may not have been the intention - or was it? - but "Secret Agent Woman" reminds me of those great Brit shows, "The Avengers", "The Saint", etc.
It's a typically expositionary and faithful refelction those kind of shows, and it was fun going down memory lane with it all. There are hits and misses in the work, and the TM engine doesn't really come to the aid of the filmmaker here. I couldn't help feel through it all that it wanted desperately to leave a mark on the spoof/spy/action genre, but clearly not enough attention to detail has gone into it to push it over the line into something memorable. There are moments of self-parody that don't quite make the mark, and that's because there's little warmth or comedic elements in the work. Shot and scene selection is quite limited:- there are only so many scenes of actors marching along holding guns or piloting a craft that you can take before you start to switch off. Again, the TM engine lets the ambition down. The soundtrack is constant, but lacks period and is inconsistent - much of it is like listening to an episode of "Hell's Kitchen", and it doesn't cohere with what we see on the screen - it's like having a separate album playing on the stereo behind you as you watch a TV show. For this kind of spoof - or, well, for any kind of major work really - more serious attention should have been paid to the choice of tracks and their placement. But, you know, through and through, the story is nicely rounded with the expected conclusion.
The cast acting was very good, and it was wonderful to hear actors I'm not sure I've heard before - I think most of the TMU community would agree with that!!
«If TMU gave Academy Awards your voice actors would sweep. Crisp, clear, precise, well acted with appropriate accents, wow! I just met a girl named Karina, and Amazon Corporation never sounded sexier! Music selection was perfect, great camera angles, script top drawer. What impressed me the most was how entertaining the video was using standard scenes of The Movies. Fun and fast-paced, I hope to see, Secret Agent Woman Returns, soon. Five-stars and thumbs-up!»
«First off, who are the excellent female VAs and more importantly, where are they?
They would be in absolutely huge demand on TMU!
The movie itself had an excellent 60s vibe and was a lot of fun...gotta love those costumes.
Potential for a great series of movies a la James Bond here methinks:-)»
