Best of B-Movies 1: Bronthworth
«No, I like critism, it is necessary. But I think, there is some missunderstanding. Generally, stories are important and necessary, and I myself critises this often, watching the works of others. But my B-movies are to short for real stories. Their only intention are to train techniques, as I mentioned. Yes, it is in this way. .In the case of this movie free cam moving.
Subtitles are not written dialogs, they need special rules. But I see, a little bit more of information would have been necessary.
I meant "deeply moving" ironically. The story is to eclectic to be told in such a short movie.
But anyway, thank you for such a long comment ;-)
«All that I have to say has pretty much been summed up before by other commentors, so I'll try to keep this short. I really don't understand what was going on in the opening titles. There was a scrolling text describing a post-Victorian England and the romance between two people. What part of that was supposed to fit with that pretty awful neo-metal-opera song? It was incredibly out of place, but perhaps it's for an acquired taste.
When the film started, the modded city street was pretty nice to watch and the freecam felt pretty comfortable. The story was far less comfortable. You claim in the video description that "story and genre don't matter", but I'm afraid they do. People tend to watch something when there's something to see. The dialogue doesn't really reveal much about why the main character was accused of stealing. We get no information as to what's happening. After the character is released, he is beaten up by some guy for no reason and for no importance to the "plot" and his girlfriend claims she left "him" to get back with our male hero. When did that happen? We don;t see her with anyone else in the film. By the end of the film we learn very little about the characters and wonder what the aim of the film was. I can see you were trying to create some kind of captivating and surreal short, but it wasn't working for me. It wasn;t as "deeply moving" as you claim it is in the description. If I was moved, I was moved in a quite uncomfortable way.
The directing of the movie was pretty nice to watch, and the use of costumes was accurate enough for me to enjoy. I hope you take these little critiques into consideration and keep enjoying your movie-making. Good luck in the future! 2/5 »
«Well, first of all, I wasn't sure that opening music really fit the video. I don't know who that artist is, but it was bad, almost laughably so. But anyway, that's just the title screen, so it doesn't matter so much
As far as the story went, I don't know what to say. I could kind-of make out the story, but there weren't any significant or interesting events throughout the whole thing. The subtitles could use a little work, but there were only really minor mistakes. Some mods were used okay, like the exterior shot of the mansion, and the scene where the two lovers lie down on the floor (which I haven't seen before).
All in all not a bad movie, but not engaging enough for my taste. 3***»
«As my longer movies are sometimes a little bit clumsy, I made und make a serial of very, very short movies to improve my tehniques. Genre and story aren't so important, and the movies a re at last too short to tell a real story. On the other hand: What and why didn't you understand? The movies aren't made to win prizes, but there is of course a German version uploaded in the net, and there was noone who didn't understand ..... so .... ???»
