«***1/2 - This film had a very promising beginning. The credits looked professional with the score and the dramatic shots. I loved the music--it made me want to check out 'The Ward.' Well let's start off with a few bad points: there were a handful of inconsistencies with the film, the first being the missing cop. That's inexcusable really, but I forgot about it shortly after. Another thing is that a lot of the actors have the same, generic face which was covered up well with the separate voice-actors and different costumes. I felt the film was a little too dark at points; I don't think there was one clear shot of the cabin at all in the film. I thought the sound design was awesome with the added footstep and gunshot sound effects, but the constant cricket noise was a little annoying, even if it was unintentional. (SPOILER) The black after the last death ran on a little too long in my opinion and I don't think the car would float in the water... but that's okay. Other than that, I thought this film was really well done. You used some great camera angles and it looked professional at points. Great work!»
H.P. Lovecraft\\'s The Terrible Old Man
«Who needs those Crappy Wrong turn film when we got The Terrible Old Man.
Very very good film, wish we could of been some brutal killing. The film was nicely done, and had me hoping we could of have a longer version , the music went according to the film, got you on the edge of the sit.
Only problem i had in this film was, where on earth did the 2nd cop go?»
«Your best movie yet Joe:-)
Excellent editing and sound structure really give this the atmosphere that it needed.
Loved the little touches like the volume changes with music in the car when the door was opened and closed.
Over your last few movies, I think you've really developed your movie making skills and this is a great example of that...very well done.»
«Really liked this adaptation, the sound design was amazing and it complimented the chilling and unnerving atmosphere you created. The film was well-paced, tense throughout as if something sinister was brewing, and overall I thoroughly enjoyed it... I swear I didn't jump at times... *shifty eyes*... Good stuff!»
«Nicely done! That was a very solid effort. The music really made the film and the sound design was good, too. All the VAs did a great job.
It went a little corny in places, mainly due to The Movies animations being a a little exaggerated at times. And the "told" background of the Old Man seemed a little forced. Wish you'd shown that in another way.
But I was impressed nonetheless and enjoyed the production.
«Movie: H.P. Lovecraft's The Terrible Old Man
Made with: The Movies
Joster285 has made yet another H.P. Lovecraft adaption. I know some might read that first sentence of what I said and make it out to be a bad thing. But you would be wrong. This was one of the best adaptions of an H.P. Lovecraft movie I have ever seen. This movie is an adreniline pounding, heart stopping movie that can not be missed. The one main standout thing to me was how well the score fit into this movie. Every beat of the music was able to go with the different camera angles. The way the characters were standing went well with the music. I loved the cinematography as well. The way he shot the movie was very well done and witty. I was appalled by the way Joster285 was able to do this. He seems to understand and how in his head for what is to come. He seems to know what to do. He was able to execute it perfectly. A fun, thrill-tastic movie that I recommend to everyone-H.P. Lovecraft lovers or haters, this movie will be for you. A-»
«as a big lovecraft fan, love how you did this - awesome choice of soundtrack and a great take/modernization on this classic tale.
the shots were well chosen and the action is suspenseful
the only one very minor nit was the use of sound effects - a night time scene with lots of birds chirping didn't seem right
«Until recently, I'd never seen any of your movies before. This made me realize how much I was missing out on.
The way that you build atmosphere thru music and visuals is excellent - on par with a Hollywood production, I'd say.
Couple that with great direction and performances and you have a little horror gem right here. Excellent work.
5/5 - I'll be sure to check out your other Lovecraft adaptions later tonight »
«A very good film, well made and attractively designed. The audio is consistently excellent and appropriately chilling.
I feel that for film-making of this calibre the TM engine sadly lets you down with its limited animations and lack of emotional control, but one looks past that at the whole result and in the end comes away very impressed. The storyline is a simple one, and I would have liked a greater payoff, however this is immensely watchable.»
