«Awesome work Ivan! I'm sorry I didn't see this when it first came out. Great story with awesome special effects. Tremendous job with the SFX, music, mods and back drops. I really enjoy this series! Good luck with the next chapter! »
Sting of the Scorpion Part 3
«I watched this last week and coulda swore I commented...
BEST EPISODE EVER!
This series has evolved with your skills.
Editing, visuals, good sound work and score.
Cam work has become your "thing" very nice work there.
Terrific voice work by everyone.
Mechs are cool.
xpace smells familiar...»
«I've enjoyed the series so far and this was no exception. As others have mentioned, great use of SFX and music. The voice acting seemed pretty good, too (although weak at times). And I'm impressed you manage to get this much mileage out of The Movies software (aside from the battle scenes from Mechwarrior).
That said, I was disappointed in the ending. I'll give it points for the surprise factor. However, the "hyper module" that Ivan had in his mech is very unrealistic, even for sci-fi. Super speed in a gigantic Maurader mech?! It would literally shake itself to pieces. That's not even considering the tremendous heat generated or the G-forces on the pilot - a bumpy ride from hell.
I'm just saying that the 'teleporter' tech the Scorp Corp developed seemed a lot more realistic to me (in any universe) than the 'hyper module'. Instead, it would have been more believable to have a Marauder with super jump jets that allowed it to hover like a hover tank - only at tremendous speed.
Further, I get that Ivan the Bastard is supposed to be a super-skilled bad*** pilot, but his mechs are portrayed as being nigh-invulnerable - taking hit after hit (including large missiles) and still functioning. Then he used the hyper module and, after stopping on a dime, he instantly took out that mech at the end with just one hit, without even pausing to aim. (Though the mere heat and strain of the trip should have forced an emergency shutdown.) It was so over the top it felt like I was watching a Saturday morning cartoon. Just saying it would have had more impact if Ivan's triumph at the end had more to do with his skill and strategy and less with his (albiet, miracle-like) technology.
Finally, I found the computer voices to get annoying by the end - sometimes even silly. I mean, the mercenary at the end did not need a computer to tell her that she had no chance of running away and should consider ejecting. But maybe I'm too much of a literalist and geek to get the humor here...»
«Gotta give it to you, Ivan, the story gets better and better.
Can't say I always agree with your choices of Tech, but the animation for them is getting better. I really liked that Hyper Module...way better than MASC. I envy the man that has a Marauder that can travel like that.»
