«are the other parts coming»
King Kong (Part 1)
«Very much in the style of Peter Jackson's remake of King Kong in 2005 (which came out about the same time as the legendary Steven Kreg version on TMO, the first great movie made with The Movies [also in my vault of course]), this first part of the classic story shows the journey from the USA to Skull Island (here named by playwright Driscoll as he writes the script for the movie en-route).
There's some great shots of the ship travelling through nasty weather conditions such as torrential rain and fog - a beautiful view from inside the ship (itself a terrific mod that we saw in Jase180's "Sola Fide" last month) as it leaves the harbour as well.
The cast is star-studded and they deliver the goods. Ann Darrow is particularly good - in one scene she icily puts down an advance by one of the men, the temperature in my room dropped a few degrees in an instant ...
We don't get to see the monkey in this first episode, but we do get to Skull Island where a couple of roars let us know that we're in for a treat in part 2.
With horrendous weather and timbers creaking, this voyage to Skull Island floats my boat.
Still don't believe it's worth seeing?

You can't get a better endorsement than that. »
