«Excellent horror movie, perfect for Halloween weekend!»
«Well Done, this is definitely my kind of horror. It had that David Lynch quality to it, and not in the first year art-film student kind of way. You have a real knack for creating tension and the film left me thoughtfully disturbed at the end of it.
Like most films of this type you managed to make it so vague that everyone could have their own interpretations of the piece. I'm sure there is a story there that you understand and set out, but for a film like this I don't think it's important that I understand it exactly how you do...and that's a good thing for me.
Well done, I hope to see more from you in the future. There are some criticisms I have but nothing that hasn't been said before by others that I could make any real additions to.
4/5 Stars from me »
«A very clever horror, very sinister. The atmosphere was well brought up even without music, and you did very well. (spoiler) I loved the closet scene (with the gun) and I thought when the flower creature is coming round the corner was very tense. The child bit was very disturbing, but I enjoyed it nevertheless. I have to note how much I enjoyed the credits - the music set the film so perfectly that I was tempted to watch again...and did I?
«Wow, that was horrific. Quite devastating really. On my first view, I was impressed by the Lynchian grotesque. On my second view, I think, I finally understood (by and large) the story, and was truly and utterly horrified.
I particularly loved the scene in which the main character is seen sitting on the bed from the inside the closet with the gun at the foreground (great tension!), the infant monster coming out of the flower-covered ghost (I gather that "is" his wife), and the way the ending ties these two together. Really scary at so many different levels (and particularly so in this time that we're living through.)
Sound design was quite good and serves the movie very well. The ironic music at the end was icing on the cake.
Great work. Wouldn't it be great if this is reproduced as some sort of live-action & machinima mix? »
«Wow, I really loved the shot from upside the closet as the new box is shifted into position. And then shit gets creepy weirdo uhg. Really good horror short form story. Great visuals. Very good timing. One of the best Iclone horrors I have seen. Only issue is in the woodeness of some of the motions. A bit more work there would have totally sold me. That said this was still a freakshow ride.
I really liked that the final shot was not included in the sound mix at the end. A bit open there. Excellent.
«Thanks for all the comments and critiques. I think what happened in the darker moments was that I couldn't see it with fresh eyes. I knew what was going on - so I could easily see everything. If I do another project with this type of darkness, I'll make sure I can watch it easily in a bright room.
Lighting, in general, though, is the most intimidating part of movie making for me. Not just the technical aspects, but also the artistic aspect of it. I did purchase stuckon3d's tutorials, so hopefully that will help me out.
«nice job Kieth - well designed sets and love how you used the camera here especially that pull back to the closet, the sudden eye opening (2:90)
as for suggestions -one or two of the scenes were a little too dark, some local lighting might have helped (ex. 5:57)
that baby scene was definitely creepy
overall very effective, and use of sound was excellent»
Unsettling and effective horror short. Nice directing and editing, they both contributed to the creepy atmosphere here.
However I must say that it took a turn for the weird towards the end -- the demon baby came off as a bit random. I'm a fan of pyscological horror, so I enjoyed the twist at the end.
Nice work here, this was a rather creepy horror film -- I'll be sure to look out for your future offerings.
