«Nice litlle documentary! »
Beaufighters of 455 Squadron
«Some excellent IL2 machinima, though not great story-based machinima - what made Faith, Hope, and Charity so superb was the character-based nature of the story - the voice acting by your pilots was solid, but it gave more of a documentary feel to it than a story about the pilots of 455 Squadron.
I do think there are plenty of great stories to tell using IL2 and some of the character-based machinima engines, but it will be the characters that draw us into the story.»
«Very well done. I would have never of thought of using a flight sim to do something like that. Very ingenious.
For the technicla aspects though, as have been stated, the story did last a bit long for the info given. Some extra sound effects could have been used for the guns and flack and maybe some smoke and steam from the stacks as the seawater pours in while the ship is sinking. I am sure a good editor would allow you to do that. Just my opinion though.
Overall, I learned something new today. Although I did learn alot when I visited the War Museum in Canberra in 1987 about how much Australia was involved in the major wars of the 20th century.»
«Good stuff. Loved how you used an obscure flight sim to recreate the aerial scenes, and the black and white-ness worked really well for this movie. As the others have said, it was great that it was informative too. However I felt the pacing was just a little slow, and I could see it being difficult for some people to hold their attention for the entire movie. I think you needed to get into the action much sooner, just my opinion.
Overall, a great little film with inventive use of other platforms to create an informative historic short. Well done
