«Nice work on the visual style, and the whole atmosphere. All of the performances were handled nicely, with Jase standing out especially.
My issue with the film however is the story, it's not very interesting, and like Filip said, we've seen it before. For a drama film, this really had no emotional aspect, as Mac said. The characters seemed a bit flat, but luckily the writing is admirabley handled.
The whole mystery aspect wasnt really that interesting to me either, as I really wasnt into the story/characters to begin with.
The sound design was pretty good, and the music used from MAFIA (love that game) was nicely handled. Overall good use of music and SFX. All in all, the editing was done very nicely, and it really gives the film a slick professional feel.
It's just a shame that this falls flat as a drama/mystery film, as it definetly has alot going for it. Overall, a slick, nicely edited, acted, written, stylistic film, but with not a very interesting or original story to tell.
Good luck with future productions, your writing and directing skills will serve you well.»
«Well, by a total stroke of luck I decided to check this movie out and man, I'm so glad I did. Extremely stylish and well-made movie, I loved the look of the film, the camerawork was excellent and the effects were superb, especially the smoke effects, nice touch. I really enjoyed the voice acting performances too, for me it was definitely one of Dulci's better roles, and that's no mean feat. Jase was totally believable too as Roselli, very engaging. The music choices were great, really adding to the feel of the movie and the story and dialogue were well written. I did feel there was an emotional aspect missing in places but that was by no means a show stopper. Also there were a few mistimed sound effects, particularly gunshots. However, there were far more positives than negatives in this highly polished and stylistic movie. A definite five stars from me, and a place as my 100th favourite. Congrats lol
***** - 5 stars»
«********** MINOR SPOILERS********
I didnt like it.
First off, to me this film didnt really feel like a noir. Much of the music you used feeled too modern, and really detracted from the whole noir feel. I also think, to really capture the feel of a noir, you should of had the classic hard boiled dialogue, but thats just my opinion.
Also, the sound design wasnt very good, as others have said.
And for a drama film, we really dont spend much time with the characters, we dont get theyre motivations, and I really frankly didnt care what happened to Tony Roselli and his men. The story , while interesting, really did nothing to pull me in, to really suck me into its world. An example would be the scene w/ Tony talking to his girl in his apartment. The dramatic music and tension should suggest that we should care that this woman is pregnant, but we reallydont know this woman as a character. WHy should we care about her baby, when she appeared briefly in about 2 scenes before? We hardly even know old Tony.
Just some thoughts on ze film.»
«Well I wouldnt worry mate, you seem to havce cried to Ken who removed my review and rating.
Maybe you need to learn with criticism instead of running to ken crying that somebody didnt give you 5 stars.
There is a great trend around this place, its the called the "I,ll suck your ass 5 star rating" Just look around a certain clique give eachother 5 stars no matter what movie or trailer or damn even technical trailer is made.
I wont suck your ass mate, sorry.»
«Man you need to learn how to just deal with criticism and not berate my films out of revenge.»
«Endo, I did not trash your movie. I actually gave you multiple compliments in my review of your movie (which you took down), and I did not continuously give you 1 star for your films, as you seem to be doing with me. I suggest you grow up.»
«my hat goes off to you sir»
«Wow, great flick. The story & atmosphere were superb.»
«The Visuals and the atmosåhere was just brilliant, one of the best around. The story was great, but not very original, We´ve seen it before somehow. The script was very well written, the dialouge was perfect for the atmosphere you created. The acting, while not the best I´ve seen, was great as well. If there is something I have to point out as negative, it would be that I had some trouble knowing who was who, a lot of the characters look very similar to each other. But hey, this is a great Drama film, and what makes it so special is, as we´ve said: The Atmosphere»
«What a masterpiece by a truly brilliant director! The atmosphere couldn't be better with the perfect pacing and timing, which settled the special, dark tone and act for the whole movie. I also loved the acting by the whole cast. You truly have casted the best fitted actors here on TMU for this movie. Great job overall!»
«Kick ass atmosphere and VOs
Brilliant!»
«Wow - there's so much to love about this movie!
Perfect pacing, great look, wonderful camera work - getting around all those goofy animations that TM has so many of, and great sfx - very, very good!
The voice acting was top notch, and I liked the music, which fitted the dark atmosphere. Loved the alleyscene (and the shadowy, moving effects) especially!
It is apparent how much work and dedication flowed into this, and you should be very proud!
The one thing that took away from it a bit was - missing sound design. I would've much preferred less music and more sound - door sounds, the woods coming alive with an owl howling, footsteps... for me, that is essential for setting the mood even more, and there were some scenes where I missed those sounds almost painfully!
Nonetheless, this is a beautiful work of art! I'll feature it in my "Dark Side" channel!

«A very fine movie...the standards of TMU are rising beyond we can possibly imagine »
«Visually stunning... the lighting and the camera work are sublime as are the overlays, backdrops and motion effects. I really enjoyed it overall.
Little things took away some of the magic. The music for instance, although well chosen and very atmospheric, it seemd to plow through almost incessantly, washing over some of the dialogue and reducing it's overall effectiveness.
Sometimes the sound effects seemed absent, for example when the car slows and stops..it's in silence or under full music. When they are in remote areas, the forest... maybe some crickets should be heard... or birds, anything to bring more sonic realism to the film.
Minor things that to me, still make a major difference.
Overall, it was well acted and very well made..
a 5 five star effort!

«It's apparent that a lot of time and care went in to the creation of this film. Interesting story, good acting and a stylish look really makes this film entertaining. I liked the simplicity of the style and the high-contrast look. Very good work.
Others have pointed out the sound problems; just need to spend more time mixing dialogue, adding sound effects consistently (one scene has high-heel sounds the next scene doesn't) and working on the voices so that they have similar quality (some are rough, others too soft). I enjoyed the choices of music, but it seemed too much to have it running through the entire film. Some scenes could stand on their own with just basic dialogue, room tone and sound effects.
I agree with tmunderg that the ending seemed a bit off; story should probably have gone a bit further so that we see them actually get out of the station successfully.
Again, very good work. I don't know TM well enough to know if most of the animations were custom, but they fit perfectly. Killian's comment on the alley sequence is exactly right.
Congratulations!»
«A Truly fantastic movie, some really beautiful shots and great voice acting by the cast.
This is the first movie that I have seen of yours and it really impressed me and what a outside editor you used!...was it Adobe After Effects or Sony Vegas...
You could of used a bit more sound in some scenes as already mentioned but apart from that, great music, great story and what a slimey bugger Jase was...a really seedy character...

«BRAVO! This is one of those rare movies that transcended my general expectations. It was so visually captivating! Very vivid and real! Applause, applause! ===K4===»
«A very atmospheric noir. The black and white was used very effectively. Great voice acting and good music. I wish there could've been a bit more sound design in some scenes, though. Very nicely done on this. Great work.»
«Really good stuff - the ending was a little abrupt, but other than that, this is superb work - great use of shadow in the black and white cinematography, excellent performances by the cast, and very atmospheric music throughout.
I've been waiting for this one for a while, and it didn't disappoint.»
«Really enjoyed this, with some minor sound issues aside, I liked the look and feel and the delivery. Some tiny issues, but none worth mentioning, as you really laid out a rock solid film i was happy to be apart of.
Loved the gangland mass hit..that was sweet..
Loved the opening and the constant moody setting, and really felt you delivered some powerful images in this that didnt feel like overproduced fx, they felt very noir and right for this..
Woulda preferred letting the audience decide Tonys fate..but thats just me.
Nice work Taylor.»
«WOW! This one sure lived up to the hype. Dark and compelling until the end. The cast was terrific, in this well written gangter mystery. The editing and music was great, as well as the sets and mods. Just wish those modders names appeared here.»
«I'm thrilled to have been a part of this. There's a consistent dark mood and the intense directing style really plays out well. My fellow cast members delivered star performances (a special tip of the to Jase180 who felt almost too believable).
Worth keeping a close eye out for is the masterful use of lighting and shadows.
Nothing is rushed. This movie really is a work of art.»
«As always, not a fan of Org Crime movies, but this is quite simply masterful; from the first shot to the last, the visuals are something else. It's obvious you've taken some serious time over getting the shots "just right", editing it exactly how you wanted it... and the movie really benefits from it (editors take note; no swanky effects thrown in that don't have their place; everything here enhances what already exists!)
The visuals are simply stunning; the mood enhancement of the lighting, the angles, shots, effects and the murkiness of certain atmospheric set-ups is fantastic. The alley sequence in particular lends an almost surreal quality to it, and the impact is increased.
Excellently portrayed by the cast (who would expect anything less?).
Very, very little to criticise in this. The VOs were a tad off (by which I mean the volume levels) in a couple of places, "lip sync" issue struck in a couple of places, and there were one or two shots where the editing quality slipped a smidgeon, but that is really a very minor issue with what amounts to an incredibly well constructed, well executed piece of film-making; if I wasn't watching this so closely, I probably wouldn't have spotted any! You should be justifiably proud of this!
Well worth the wait to see this, the definative version. And don't skimp; make SURE you watch this in full-screen or you'll miss half of the impact of the scenes.»
