«Great follow-up to the first episode. I am looking forward to future episodes.»
The Bard Act 2: Consequences
«Act 2 follows up well on the first with an enchanting experience. I loved the style and execution to this period setting and the animations were fluid.
I would have loved to see a little more polish on the vocal levels as they seemed a little uneven in spots however, this did not detract too much from my enjoyment.
I thought you did a terrific job with the action sequences. They were directed and scripted very well. Coupled with some good music and ambience, you managed to immerse me once again in your unique world and I for one cannot wait to see the third act..

«An excellent follow up to the first part Gabe! Bravo on the stunning visuals, you are getting even better at it, which is a scary thought. You have a way making incredible visions come to life like no other machinimist.
Technically all was sound, I had a few quibbles with some of the audio levels but then again I almost always do.Some background music seemed a bit low at times and some of the actors lines seemed loud in one or 2 spots. The Bard's few lines were an example of this.
The actors did a great job once again. At times I feel that the "close Mic" aproach doesn't always work in every scene. For example, if the onscreen actor is adressing a fairly large crowd I would suggest backing off of the mic and speaking more loudly as one normally would do in this situation.
A fine offering!
«Excellent work. Immersive, detailed and dense. Some fine vos (K4 was particularly good seeming appropriately a bit more reserved than normal). Some very good use of motions. Solid camerawork that gets in tight when need be and makes things a bit more personal and very good lighting. My favorite flourish was the little entrance and exit of the bar maid that occurred when the bard is speaking to Galen in the tavern. Great touch. Also liked the physics of things like the head in the box falling to the floor. Action was very well done and well shot from my eyes. I respect others opinions but the blood worked well for me and the depth of field looked swell.
Horse animations were a bit slidey. I thought there should have been more facial animation in A3S24's dialog to the townspeople as it was long and focused on his face with little break. Storywise its pretty straightford but perhaps a bit wordy still.
Technically this is top 3 Iclone Ive seen (Probably higher). Story was about a 7 (Im no huge fan of fantasy) though i did appreciate the hard edge you gave the character there at the end. A+. A great viewing experience.»
«unfortunately in my excitement to get this movie out i had an oversight in the the credits
forgot to acknowledge a couple of guys who were instrumental in helping shape the look of the movie:
Bigboss' Monk Skintight mesh was used for the Bard's costume
wolfzone's wizard study room which can be seen in the beginning of the movie
thanks guys for your support and understanding»
«Set design, lighting, casting and music/audio are top notch. The visuals are just superb and you've always been a good story teller. It was a little dark in some scenes but you pulled it off getting the mood and still be able to see what is going on. Some very nice technical work here too. These little epics you are turning out are in themselves amazing projects that cover a lot of facets of film making. The project teams you put together are top notch and from the viewers end it all looks very smooth. That is quite a feat too.
The horse animation is a problem in most iclone vids I see as it takes a lot of real estate to match that built in run, however, I didn't find it as distracting as Mac did.
All in all... I'd have to say that you've pulled off another coup when it comes to bringing a big time machinima project to the screen with a lot of talent all the way around.
Cecil B. DeGabe has struck again!
«thanks mac always love hearing your feedback as it always contain tangible elements i can work to improve on.
yea the blood spurting effects were an after thought - added in it post, i blame spartacus on this coz been watching a lot of it
i hear you on the emotional connection - the script could have had more of this element but it came off as more action focused - hope to rectify this with act 3»
«Review part 1
Ok, first off, visuals were outstanding. The lighting effects were a definite high point here, really loved the use of shadows and colours to set the mood. The costume and character design was amazing and I liked the camerawork too, there were frequent shots that just had me speechless. Gp's musical choices worked well, giving this a really epic and atmospheric feel. I thought the acting was generally good as well, in particular by Gp, K4 and Ricky Grove. I was unsure about the blood effects though... looked tacky to me, almost like ketchup, which was a surprise considering the rest of the visuals were done so well. I also found the dodgy horse animations very distracting, as sometimes they were galloping a lot faster than they were moving, and sometimes they were even going sideways when they should have been galloping forward. Dunno how easy that is to fix but it was a distraction. Other than that the animation was actually pretty smooth, which I know is quite a feat in iClone so yeah, awesome work in that respect. I didn't really like the sword fight sequence towards the end though, with the dramatic spinning jump attacks. Seemed like something I'd see in power rangers lol. I also thought some of the fighting sound fx were a little cheesy (sorry if I seem like I'm being picky). »
«Review part 2
However, the main quip I had was that, although this was technically excellent, even after my fourth viewing I still could not get totally into it. The entertainment and enjoyment was definitely there but no emotional connection, which kinda worried me considering there was all sorts of tragedy going on here and it's obviously intended to be an emotional tale. I think the dialogue had an impact on that, as I found it occasionally a little stilted or awkward, but overall I dunno what it was that kept me from becoming fully immersed.
Anyway, I'm sorry for going into so much details about the negatives, but the whole reason I'm doing that is because I think you have all the difficult stuff down Gabe, and if you keep on improving I could definitely see you making something that would totally blow everything on the site away. I am really enjoying this series despite what I mentioned, and needless to say this is still a high cut above most machinima films I've seen. Well done, looking forward to the next part

«That was absolutely spectacular! Damn, you Gabe! That was definitely the best Iclone movie I have ever seen! I am really glad that I am part of this movie! Brilliant as always, but this time, Gabe, you outdid yourself!
I don't believe in the word perfect, but if I did, this would come close to it!
